What Abortion Looks Like is a project by WE Health Clinic to destigmatize abortion care and demystify what abortion looks like.
With patient written and verbal consent, WE Health Clinic photographs pictures of pregnancy tissue after suction abortions. WE Health Clinic patients who complete a medication abortion can photograph their own pregnancy tissue and submit their photos.

Patients who receive a medication abortion at our clinic and would like to participate in this project complete their abortion at home, then photograph the tissue that they pass using materials we provide.

What’s “Pregnancy Tissue?”
“Pregnancy Tissue” is a term used widely in abortion care that describes the pregnancy in a patients uterus – also referred to as gestational sac, embryo, or fetus. Pregnancy tissue is often mixed with blood, clots of various sizes, and the lining of the uterus, called “decidua.”
